Vintage 2024 – Final Evaluation

Vintage 2024 – Final Evaluation.

Despite increasingly difficult weather to manage, it was an excellent vintage.
Here is the final evaluation of the 2024 vintage.

While last year temperatures were over 30 degrees, this year the spring was mild. The rains in June certainly helped the olive trees to face the hottest months of summer.

July and August were very hot and rainless, but from September onwards and throughout October, rainfall was intense and continuous, preventing end-of-season treatments against the olive fly, whose presence, however, was below expectations, thus avoiding significant damage to production.

Harvest and return

The result was a harvest of 15 quintals of olives, a quantity 50% higher than in 2022 (another year of abundance). The particularity of this year’s climate (especially the late summer rains) filled the fruits with water leading to very low yields (even 5-6%).

The quality, however, turned out to be excellent, the best ever.

Qualitative analysis

As per tradition, the harvest was carried out around mid-October (12-13/10).

Already immediately after milling, the oil presented excellent characteristics.
Fresh scent of cut grass that was confirmed when tasting with the addition of the characteristic hints of bitter and spicy.

  Detected value Limit value
Acidity 0.16 0.8

Casa Julia’s EVO oil is organic in fact (read Casa Julia’s philosophy ) and filtered in the mill ( Frantoio Franci , awarded in the Flos Olei Hall of Fame 2024 ) for a longer duration without losing its original characteristics.
